1. Completely
separate yourself from anything related to law school. Maybe watch a
movie—unrelated to the field of law—read a book, watch TV, exercise, or
go for a hike. Do whatever it takes to help you forget that you ever
took finals. Of course, it will take time to calm that active issue
spotting brain of yours, which will drive your family member and friends
insane, but you’ll learn to tame it.
2. Go
to sleep! Let’s face it, during finals week, you probably didn’t sleep
very much. Take a day or two to just sleep in all day. It will help
alleviate the mind and reduce stress. You’ll feel recovered and you
brain will function normally again. Sleep is one of the easiest ways to
reduce stress, though being stressed can sometimes hinder the ability to
sleep.
3. Hang
out with friends or party like you’ve never partied before. One of the
best ways to alleviate stress or help us forget about any stresses in
life is to spend time with friends. If a friend mentions law school,
just be honest and tell them you don’t want to talk about it. They’ll
understand, and if they don’t and get offended, then it’s time to find a
new friend.
4. Meditate!
Meditation is another great way to ease and calm the mind. Studies have
shown that meditating brings a plethora of benefits, from a better
memory, or more rational decision-making. Meditation doesn’t require a
lot of time either, just 10 to 20 minutes a day to a better you! If you
can’t stop thinking about final exams or black letter law, there is no
better way to ease the mind than meditation.
