• Getting back to campus is surreal (but maybe not in the best
way). You immediately want to turn around, go home, make some hot
chocolate, curl up in bed, and pretend it’s still Christmas.
• Once that period of denial has worn off, you get into kickass
mode and set the loftiest goals ever for yourself. This semester will be
SO different …outlining every week, supplements for ever every big
topic, and you’ll definitely be going to office hours more often, you
swear.
• Day one of with a new professor is a completely different
experience. Instead of wondering if they’ll be “scary”, you find
yourself wondering whether they like case names on the final, how
detailed in-class briefs need to be, and whether you love or hate the
fact that there wont be a midterm.
• Hell, preparing for class is nothing like last semester either.
Reading that used to take hours can be cranked out in one and your
reading notes are starting to look more like the outlines you were
making towards the end of last semester.
• You realize your friendships with your law school peers really
are different from any others you have; because, let’s be honest, no
matter how much you tell your best friend about how many hours it took
to find the right cases for your open memo—the only ones who really
understand are the ones who were crying over it next to you in the
library.
• As much as you hate to admit it, as you slowly retreat into your
study cave you know deep down there’s nowhere else you’d rather be.
